The shifter should work, the linkage for the column shift is 'push' while the floor shifter is 'pull' (or maybe vice versa) so you'll have to swap out or turn around that part of the linkage. I've never done this but I'm sure someone on the board can spell out how to do it. It should work ok with your exsisting bench seat (you are talking about using the Mav's stock bench right?) depending on how tall you are. -CP

: shifter should work easy. You just have to figure out where to cut the hole in the floor board. Linkage length will dictate that. Make it only big enough to fit the shifter thru. Bench seat is probably to wide. Cougar was a wider car.

: : I am trying to convert my coloum shift auto to a floor shift. My father offered me the old floor shifter and hardware from his '67 cougar ( he has a 289 that he swapped out to a top loader four speed ) and I was wondering if it would fit. My mav is a '77 with a 302 C-4 auto trans. I have heard others talk about a reversed shift pattern when going to a floor shifter. What should I look for? Also, will the bench seats work or will I need to find some buckets?

: : Thanks in advance for any help
