The CLeveland needed 8 sleeves, so... It was already bored .040 over
and had thin walls. While it may have had a 4 bolt bottom end it still
was not worth the expense to do so. I still have a extra set of 4bbl.
heads I may do something with down the road. As for the 460, I already
have a few of them laying around. I also have a pair of Police Interceptor
heads (2.19-1.73s) that have small ports and big valves. I've got the
cam, most of the valvetrain, gear drive, ect... so all I really got to
do is stick one together and manage to get it in the Maverick.
I have a few things yet to do, like get the intake ports to match the
CJ sized ports on my old Weiand singletop tunnelram. I don't care about
frontend weight or handleing that much as its basicly gonna be a weekend
bracket car that will see very little street use. Hell, I plan on using
my NOS Sniper kit being I still have it. The engine (460) was origionaly
gonna go in my 78 Ford 4x4 but I think it will be more fun to put it in the
Mav. Again, we'll see how it goes in the coming months.
Let's see, yeah I'll have narrow tires up front for a little less weight
and rolling resistance (already got em), and it looks like the shock towers
will be fine cut, it still leaves some room for the springs to work. I
figured on cutting the towers for the Cleveland to begin with for a little
more clearance. The 460 is a big longer and heavier and about as wide as
a Cleveland so I see no problems there. This ain't gonna be a weekend
project.
