if you're using the New CJ heads, I'd say around 600HP. Make sure and check the valve/piston clearence. I even built my own lifter valley tray out of sheet alunimum. Just like they sell for the Chevys. Works great. I use a Accel mech. dist. with 20 deg intial with 38 total. The big thing for NHRA is hose. Use braid steel lines as much as possible. My trans I use areoquip #6 fittings and hose even for my trans cooling lines. #8 for fuel lines. I've also found tat mean likes Auto/Motorcraft platinum plugs the best.

: A little more info for you Ricky. The glide was behind a 514 powered
: Mustang, but he took it out as its getting a Lenco. I'm getting a good
: deal on it the converter and shifter. I've been running street class
: and bracket II, but will be starting bracket I in the coming season.
: For my home track, tech in not that big a deal, but if I start running
: other NRHA or maybe IRHA tracks, it will be. I'm getting my cage from
: S & W who is pretty good to deal with. Subframe connectors will be done
: at the chassic shop as I don't like the ones that hang beneath the car.
: I can also get the 514 shortblock as the Mustang guy is going bigger,
: but I'll just use the one I have for now. My basic problem is I know how
: much money I have for the project, and thats it. If I go over by much,
: it won't be running in time for when the points start. Mostly I've had
: big block pickups, Torinos, Fairlanes and the like, but this is the first
: time I've tried to shove 10 lbs in a 5 lb package. Intakes? No question,
: I'm going with a Edelbrock Victor with the Holley 4500 pattern and a
: Holley 1050 CFM Dominator. The cool thing about the Victor is it already
: had the bosses for a fogger system in it, all you got to do is tap and
: drill it. I've already aquired most of the parts I need, as far as the
: engine goes. For your amusment, the cam I have is 266-276 duration (@ .050)
: with .603-.625 lift, its a monster. My machinist seems to think with
: the Victor I should be making around 550 HP off the bottle, but we'll
: see. Not for street use:-)
