I agree with RR, if you're going to be deep enough in to change the rings, you should definitely put in new rod & main bearings. It's probably the cheapest and most important thing you could do to help your motor last until you get that 302 built. And as far as blowby, unless your cylinders are trashed, you should see a big improvement when you replace those rings. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
