Everything you describe sounds normal to me for removing a 6 cyl engine.

I would pass on the Mustang. I seem to recall they had a smaller trans in order to fit in that small Mustang....but maybe I am mistaken.

Also, I don't think you really need 3" exhaust...so that 2" should be O.K.

The best donors: 4-door Maverick, 4-door Granada, 2-door Granada. These cars, especially 4 doors, are cheap and plentiful. On the Granada, all you will need is the engine and accessories (alternator, Power steering) hardware. None of the rest of the Granada is useable unless it has disc brakes.

Which brings me to the brakes. The Mustang is a 4-lug. You definitely want to move up to 5-lugs.

First things first though. Get a motor in it and get it back on the road.

didn't you have a motor to put in it?
