Is the short block from a late 80's 5.0 302 the same as the 302 in my mav?

I am a Chev guy interested in doing something different. Unfortunately, I have done most of my tinkering on GM stuff and know little about ford's.

is there a major difference between a 1970 302 and a 1990 302? Are the motor mounts in the same location and are the exhaust ports in the same location? I'm sure that there are subtle differences between the years, but is there a major difference between these blocks dimensionally?
