I think you may end up spending more to swap to a 250; rebuilding an I6 is more expensive and you'll need a different transmission bellhousing. The 250 uses the same bellhousing as a 302, so if you get a cheap junkyard 250 and swap it over then you'll be a step closer to a V8, but realistically you might as well go V8; there are plenty of cheap 302s out there. You can swap in a 302 without changing much else as long as you don't have a performance 302, and then you can upgrade the rearend, tranny, etc as you go along. Depending on the year maverick you may not need to upgrade much. What year is your car? I am assuming a 1970-1972 -CP

: I might be swapping up to a 250. Would prefer a V8 but I don't think I can afford all the other things that need to be changed also so I'm thinking a I/6 250 would be a better swap at the moment. My question is: What, if anything, would need to be changed out? I have a C4 tranny & no AC. If you need more info just ask.

: Thanks
