have you prelubed the oiling system using the oil pump and a shaft & drill? If not, this is a good way to adjust the lifters. Run the priming pump until you get oil up at all the rocker arms and loosen them. Then slowly retighten them until no slack is in them. Rotate engine 1/2 turn and run pump again. Recheck your rocker arms. Rotate again, prime again, recheck again. Do this for a total of two complete crankshaft rotations and you should be good to go. When you run it, at idle, loosen so the rocker makes noise, tighten until it stops, then tighten 1/4 turn more. All while it is at idle. Don't forget to run the engine at 1500+rpms when you first start it for about 15-20 mins. Then change oil and filter before running it anymore.

: Okay guys (and gals), I am getting ready to fire up my engine for the first time. Everything went together pretty good and I am just tying up loose ends (finishing B&M shifter, wiring elec. fan & fuel pump, plumbing tranny lines etc.) and have a question for when I do get to start it. What is the best method for adjusting the lifters? My lifters came with my Edelbrock cam and the directions said NOT to pre-fill them with oil.

: My heads have the Crane rocker arm conversion kit (convert from non-adjustable valvetrain to adjustable) so I could use roller rockers, so I can't bottom out the nut on the shoulder of the stud like my rebuild manual says.

: Thanks in advance,

: Brian
