I just read an artical on the 302 boss. its at work and i am at home but will try and kick the brain into gear. The 302 Boss engine was a development that ford came out with in 1969/1970 during the trans am races. More the the point they made it to compete with chevys z28 in that year. it came in limited production boss mustangs and afew cougar eliminators. IT used T/A con rods, needle bearing rocker arms - 1.73:1, duel valve springs, steel crank 4 bolt block, windage tray, 290 degree cam 10.5 or 6:1 compression, 780cfm 4bbl carb, aluminum duel plane manifold, and titanium valves. The actual manifold on them is RARE - it WILL NOT fit any other type of small block. Kinda like the cross boss. in 1969 they had rarer options like cross drilled cranks (1969 only) they 1969 also had larger valves 2.33 int as compared to the 1970 boss of 2.19int. All in all it was a engine ment to rev HIGH and actually sucked on the street - was way to boggy at low RPM and street type use. It was over carbed and breathed way to much for idle to 4000. The cam they used if memory serves me right was a 290 dur and 484 lift solid cam.

Disclaimer - this was all from memory and from my ex father in laws Boss mustang, so please be gental if i got it wrong they are fun to drive tho, but ment to race.

David
