Would a phenolic carb spacer help her situation?

:Recently I have noticed that when it is really hot outside the mav does not want to start. It is almost as if there is no fuel or air getting into the engine. It keeps cranking without actually turning over no matter if you give it gas or not. I replaced the starter less than a year ago, along with a new battery and cables. This only happens when it is hotter than normal but otherwise it is just fine. What could this be? Is it possible that the carb is not getting enough air when it is really hot outside? Also when I turn the car off I notice this weird burning smell. It seems to be coming from the radiator resevior, it smells like hot coolant burning. The radiator has recently been recored. What could this be? Another thing that I noticed is that my oil psi is normally at 60 when driving but whenever I brake and sit at idle is drops to about 45. Is this normal? If not what could be the problem? I checked the oil level was fine. I have a 73 Mav with a 302, automatic, and a 2 barrel carb. Thanks
