Flexplate differences

I have a 351W that is going into a '70 Mav. The original C4 that came out of the car was of course, hooked up to a 250 I6. The I6 flexplate has a 10 1/2" torque converter bolt patern. The 351W has a 11 7/16" torque converter bolt pattern and so the C4 bell housing will not fit over the larger 351W flexplate. My question is (if it is even the right thing to ask) can I put the smaller flexplate on the 351W or will that cause problems with the starter, or, should I look for a bell housing that will fit over the 11 7/16" flexplate?
