:My biggest concern is really with price and modifications. I don't want to purchase something that may not fit properly or possibly at all. I also want to use headers and is a definite MUST. I also don't want to pay too much because I am somewhat limited too $1500 MAX which must include the trans., crossmember and all additional pieces. I am not really fond of having to modify pieces due to my limited time lately and I would really like something that just bolts in without much hassle.
:
:The trans. I was wanting to use is out of an 89 T-bird and I can get it for $150 and needs a rebuild which would be done by my brother for $100 to do the job. A kit is around $250 for everything and $75 for a torque converter. So as you can see, $575 is what I am looking at so far, but how much would the additional parts cost as a total? Also, is the 89 trans. an electric trans.? I want to avoid computer controls.
:
:Anymore help you can provide would be great!
:
:Thanks again.

89 should be a standard run of the mill AOD.
If it will fit your tunnel, the Lokar TV cable works fine, takes about 10 minutes to bolt in, requires no modifications.
the shifter could be interesting, but I made a couple of parts to use a cable on mine. the Lokar cable cost $51 from Summit, the crossmember is about $59 at Windsor-fox.com.
Rickyracer may have a better fitting set of headers than I do, thus better shifter linkage, but Hooker Super Comps fit perfect if I was still using the C4, however the AOD takes up more space, forced me to use a little creative thinking on my shifter linkage, it would be alot easier if I used a floor shifter, but I want everything to look stock.
btw, as for parts modification, before my headers, my crossmember bolted in behind its stock location, I just had to put in a spacer so it wouldn't compress the crossmember, the TV rod just needed some bends to work with my tighter firewall clearances, I flipped over the shift lever in the tranny and added an additional 3+/- inches to my shifter linkage, nothing big at all.
