i did talk to one mechanic who said that might be the problem i truly hope it is. I have dreamed of having a maverick ever since i was a kid and my mom had the BOS v-8 302 maverick heh got her in trouble alot, and i do not want to lose this car to some police impound lot.
The fluid is bright red and there are no flakes that i have noticed. im probobly not gonna be able to get it to the mechanic for another week or so i was hoping that i could possibly find someone who lives in the seattle area that would be willing to take a look at it and see whats up. thanx for your reply though.

:Wesley; cheer up! I think you have two problems that are giving you a fit. First, the leaks are probably the trans lines at the top of the transmission. They are a bear to tighten in the car, but it can be done. Leaks more under power because the pump is moving the fluid under pressure. The shift problem may just be the shift linkage needing an adjustment. If you can get it to a good mechanic, I am sure this can be fixed for not much money. Also, check the fluid and see if it has metal flakes or a milky appearance to it. That would indicate a bigger problem. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
