The best reason for a cowl induction hood is to remove heat from the engine compartment. You won't see any horsepower gains with just the hood; if you find a way to duct the fresh air to the air cleaner then you'll see minimal horsepower increases. -CP :I just got a "homemade" cowl induction hood, that has MAJOR amounts of bondo in it. Would it be worth putting on the car for any horse power gains? It doesn't seam any heavier than the stock hood just lots of "mud" in it to make the transion to the new higher section of the hood.
