: :A few years ago when the compressor went out on my Aerostar I had the system switched over to R-134. It is most definitely not as cold as the old R-12. I have heard from many people that putting R-134 into a system designed for R-12 will result in a less efficient system. The biggest issue is at idle, not nearly as cold as the R-12 was. sometimes you need to install an extra fan in front of or behind the condensor coils.This will help keep things cool.Especially if you live in hot climate.I had to do this on my fathers astro van when we converted his over. |
