:If you were to sit in your mave right now, you are able to look at the controll pannal, remove the face plate carefully (I busted mine so be care full it doesn't come out to nice) and remove the screws no that that is loose (the leaver box ect.) you are able to push it back and turn it around to be able to look at the vac. lines make sure and see if the vac. lins are on the leaver box, also make sure on the other side of the bake that the cable is on the hook that makes the heater door open and shut, oops sorry if you were to push the leaver back and to the left you will see eletric hook ups, go futher and look behind it and there should be the lines, no if you push it back and to the right you will see the cable, and the leaver, make sure all this is hooked up,
:-another note, if were you vac. line hook up to the leaver box is plastic, it may leek, you will need to find a earlyer one that is metal,
:-WOW I hope this helps you out, if you need any more hlep just post it

Heater control valves are common at good parts stores like NAPA. The replacement won't look the same, as they have been superceded by universal valves. They work fine though.

Air blowing thru the defrost is the default setting for AC cars. If you turn the fan on, but don't choose a level with the righthand lever, the air blows through the defrost. Also, when you move the right lever back to "off" you can hear the vacuum bleed off. For that reason, I suspect that your control system isn't getting any vacuum at all from the engine. Check under the hood for the little vacuum line that runs through the firewall to your controls. Many times this gets pulled by people in a rush to disconnect emmisions lines.
