wonderin if you might have a clue as to where i could get one (accelerator cable).
ive tried all the local "chain" auto-parts stores. i tried lewis ford here in memphis. they dont even have a number for it anymore.
ive tried good ol NAPA... nope, cant get it either.
i tried a local company called "early ford parts".
and i even called auto-krafters. their catalog has no listing, and unfortunately, i called a little bit too late on a saturday, to talk to anyone. they were closed.
ive got a perfectly driveable car, sans throttle cable. its driving me nuts!
btw....
this car does has an edelbrock 4 barrell. same as my last maverick, which never developed any accelerator cable problem.
just wondering about the relationship to that accelerator cable, and aftermarket carbs..
my maverick is pretty gosh-darned fast! i wondered if it was over or undercarburetion that caused my car to no shift or run as well, when i kept my foot completely in it.
if i let out just a hair...
its a gear grabbin, neck snappin mother.
ive always wondered why its necessary for me to back it out a hair to make her shift, and to go ultimately fast.
any ideas?

thanks again

: Oh yes, been there, done that with our 75 Mav race car. First, the problem seems to be with the carb hook up(Holley or Edelbrock on a after market intake). When mashed to the floor, the pedal has to much clearance from the arm to the floor board and the linkage on the carb is wide open against the carb. As you are trying to get more power out of her, the cable is being stretched against carb link. If you try to move the spring end foward on the linkage it solves that problem but then the throttle plates will not open fully, solution we came up with was to put a pedal stop on the floor, under it, at wide open position(1/2 bolt and double nut through floor). Other fabricated stops can be used too. We have not broken a cable since. Because of scarcity of V8 cables, we use 6cyl cable assy. from Mav's or Fairmont's just need to put a little loop in it. I think Granada will also work. Just have to match up depending on years and engine. Could go to after market racing type, but they cost a lot more. Hope this helps
