My question is, if you wanted to set it up like factory with a start and a run, would it really matter which one you chose for which? Or is there a reason you should stick with the white as the start and the red and the run.

:Earl, the drawing you show is a different version from the one I refer to. I referenced the Chilton 71-85 book, page 48, middle drawing for the Dura Spark II, that shows 3 different systems. You are correct in that the drawing you show has them reversed. There can alway be misprints in these books. There are also different modules per the applications. Your drawing shows the starter solinoid that my book doesn't show. The solinoid's operation effectivly supplies the full 12 volts bypassing the resistor during the starting interval just as I did by using an external relay in my earlier post. Glad your happy with it and found it to be a very worthwhile change as I did.
