Its a 74 block, herm... dropping compression down is not good. David
:David, that is way too much cam for 8.0:1 compression. It will reduce your cylinder pressure even further because of the increased valve overlap! What year block and pistons are you running? A flat top piston was used early and then a dished piston and you guessed it they went back to a flat top! The E7TE heads I believe are 66cc. These heads on a flat top piston block will give you about 9.5:1. You are likely better off with a set of early 351 heads (60cc) or the earlier 289/302 heads which are 58-62cc (roughly). Depending upon the year of the block (say if it was a 1974) the E7TE's will drop your compression another 0.5 or so!!! Confirm what years different pistons were used with different blocks with Ken Merring. He has all of the books with this sort of info!

::I am getting excited about this car, i got the headers, exhuast, 4bbl carb and manifold. I am using a Weiand single plane and a holley 600cfm. I got cheaper headers (paw) for now. I am going with a cam kit from comp cams - 275/280 219/233 .477/.510 110. I am not sure if i am over camming it at 8.0:1 compression and i am still unsure on the CC size of the 95 heads so i am not sure if i am decreasing compression as of yet. I also have a 2200 stall convertor and 3.00 gears, will be installing 3.80 gears in the next month or so. Anyways, thanks to ALL for putting up with my questions
