Yes, it will work. I have a '67 mustang shifter in my '69.5, and it works very well. It does, however, hit the bench seat when you put it in low gear, and that is with the seat all the way back. No problem with buckets. You will have to modify the linkage a bit, but it is minor and not difficult to do. I personally like the small and less conspicuous shifter. Hope this helps. Earl
