Stallion Question II

Thought I'd consult the experts. I ran into a car the other day here in Texas that the owner claims is an original stallion. (The paint job appeared to be a rather poor imitation of an original) My question is this: What would indicate this to be a factory stallion and not a copy? Not the VIN, but what about the trim or body codes? Thanks for your help!
