:Can I use modifications (headers, carb, intake manifold) that are for a Comet? I have a 73 Mav and I am going to be rebuilding the engine soon and I saw that JC Whitney has unbelievably low prices for that stuff but they only have them listed for Comets. Just wondering if I can use them? Thanks
:Jerilyn, The engine parts will be interchangable (in most cases)carbs, intakes heads, cams etc.
..Are you talking about the Comet of the 60s or the 71-77 years?
..If 71-77 years, all the engine, trans and suspension will inter change except for minor differences in some parts thru the years. The body parts differences are more obivious. Can't directly interchange a Comet hood and have it look stock like the Mav hood, they have a different front shape, but this hood will still bolt on. Here is a tip when looking at parts in the JC cat. If the part number is the same (for example) a brake drum) specified for a Mav and a Comet thru the same years they will fit and even may see the same number for some other Ford motor company cars, there the same part even it for some other year.
.Best wishes, Ken
