They can add the weight, it's not a problem, They just weld it on and drill it. I used a 50oz flexplate on my earlier 302. They just had to balance it for a earlier setup. Redrilling a flexplate is not the way to go.
The block is not the issue. The rotating mass balance is. 50oz flywheel goes with a 50oz damper. But the only time you have to keep things standarized is when you don't have them rebalanced. Just tell the balancing shop what you're running and they have the factory specs they use to setup up the balancing.

:I am using a C4 tranny.... Can i just buy a newer flexplate that is for a 5.0L and is 50oz off balance and it will work with a 89 5.0L block mated to a C4 tranny??
