George; been there, done that. Yes, if you get aftermarket glass, such as PPG or a knockoff piece, it is thinner, but just as strong. I got my gasket from AK, and had to put a load of sealer in the seal to get it to work. Hard part is to keep the glass from falling down into the seal on the bottom. Just be sure to use a good quality sealer, and it should come out ok. Mine is fine, and has no leaks. Hope this helps. Earl
