can i get some clarification on the size difference of these 2 transmissions? the reason i ask is because ive read many times that the 250 is bigger in certain ways and the tunnels on the 70 mavericks may need to be hit with a hammer to get the 250 trans to fit.

however upon getting the 200 trans laying next to it, i did some measurements and visuals and they seem to be exactly the same in every single way. same length, height, thickness, everything. any thoughts before i waste time test fitting this later this week?

    thanks!

The 250 and 200 transmissions are both C4. Externally they are exactly the same except for the bellhousing which on the 250 is the same one used on the 302.

The only time you need to massage the 70 tunnel is with the AOD.

Agreed, a C4 is a C4(well almost), if they were different sizes they'd have a different ID -- C3, C6, FMX etc. There are two different styles of bell and method of mounting to case, IE pan vs case fill.

In some applications there are different styles and lengths of tail housings, but main case is always same.

Later on in the 1970 model year the Maverick also got the 250....and the trans tunnel was still the same.
