I don't know of any really good books on putting high HP motors together, but take a look on the web, there are lot of articles about putting 1000hp motors together..................just look at all of the steps they go through and start asking questions with you machinest............

    http://www.mustang50magazine.com/te..._two_valve_engine_power_improved/viewall.html

This article is about a mod motor, but it's not all that different except for the cams/cross bolt crank..................etc.

Also, you might pickup some of the Engine Masters magazines put out by HotRodding.............most of the motors are strictly race and high HP but for the most part they use a carb'd, look at some of the build-ups of the winning motors...................it's all about detail!

that mustang is awesome.. but probably cost well over 100k to build.

the second one is awesome too.. but pretty tough to drive around a road course. lol

I would look into turn key packages if you're really serious about making reliable and stupid power that can be controlled.. and yet still be able to pull into the gas station to fill the thing up with premium. Turbo's will give you that in spades. Look through NRE's vids and see what can be done with a nicer setup. If you stay at or below about 700-800 HP?.. you can even sit in traffic on the freeway at a nice smooth and leisurely idle with the thing. lol

Kind of extreme examples don't you think? You don't really need a quarter of a million dollars to do this you know. How about this one?

Does that look like an 820 hp street car to you? Capable of 9.60's at 142 mph? Air conditioning, power steering/brakes/seats/windows/locks/mirrors, six disc CD stereo with Kicker upgrades, starts and idles like a stocker, gets 20 mpg in town and 26 on the highway, takes the kids to school, brings home groceries, and kicks the crap out of damn near everything on the street. That's with rather small 54mm turbos and an air-air intercooler. Imagine what happens after I'm finished upgrading to a pair of 64mm PTE 6466 twins. 1200 hp will be a piece of cake.

thats just awesome. now imagine all that stuffed into a 4 door maverick!!! too bad there is not enough space for everything that you have in your mustang.

    I really like that look.
It looks mean enough but obviously totally a sleeper.
Great job on that build. What's the info on your engine and tranny?

It is a 305" three valve engine based on an FRPP big bore iron block, custom flat top pistons from CP, Manley billet rods (used these in anticipation of going over 1000 hp), steel stock stroke Cobra crankshaft, ported 3V heads with Manley stainless steel oversize intake valves and Inconel oversized exhaust valves, Comp Cams springs, custom ground camshafts (my design) from Bullet Race Cams, stock followers, C&L intake manifold, FRPP billet throttle body. I use ported stock exhaust manifolds too. Converter is a billet piece from Circle D Converters with a 5R55S transmission from Performance Automatic. It is their Super Comp model with their SFI legal bellhousing.

I didn't scrimp on things but I also didn't use anything unnecessary. It's all about the combination.

You'd be surprised. The turbos are mounted down on either side of the transmission. Pics show it much better.......

I'd have to take a serious look but I think it can be done under a Maverick as well.

im pretty sure that there is not room for two turbos under the maverick. we cant even have long tubes not hang about 2" below the lowest point of the car.
about the only way i can see putting two turbos towards the rear of the motor would be to have them behind the shock towers with the impeller side going into the fender well. this would be pretty simple on the passenger side but the drivers side would have to contend with the master cylinder and the steering box and linkage.

the 05 and newer mustangs have tons of room in them. a local shop is building a 1500 hp 2012 5.0 that is going to be a freeway monster. the space he has to work with is incredible.
the problem is here in california, this car and your car would never pass smog.

Show cars are for the rich and famous..............now what you have here is just about as perfect street/racer as you can get. Some suspension upgrades and that would be one serious road race car.........and a lot of fun to drive. Very nice engineering on mounting the turbo's.
I have seen two late Mustangs with twin turbo's and they were both all the way at the rear of the car where the resonators/mufflers used to be. I could never understand why they did it that way...........and all of the plumbing..
and just didn't look good at all....................IMHJO

I never stop wondering how you guys still live in that hell hole of a state. :rofl2:

The man who designed the system, Rick Head of Exile Turbo Systems in California, had the original prototype on his '07 Shelby GT Mustang. He would routinely hurt the feelings of Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, Corvette, et al owners in the canyons.

That gawdawful STS turbo system. What a pile of scrummy crap. When we first did my system on the stock engine we made 477 hp/545 tq on 8 psi of boost. The dyno opposite the one my car was on had another '07 Mustang with the STS system. They made 445 hp/488 tq on 12 psi with that turd. Just no heat energy left in the pipes once it got to the turbos. At the track my car went 10.88 at 128 with that power level. The STS car couldn't find 11.50's with a map.

    Amen....

Between the oil pumps for the turbos and the loss of pressure in the exhaust I wasn't impressed with their stuff. Saw them around at a couple of the local car shows and I was never impressed, they are actually based pretty close to Bartikus, so they are a couple hours south of me. They got a 5.0 mustang they use too cart around that had the turbo installed behind the axle, the routing of the intake tubing and the oil lines were a nightmare..
I saw that thing and it screamed trailer queen too me, because nobody in their right mind would put that crap on a daily driver. The biggest thing that made me nervous about that car was the oil return lines, they used rubber pushlock high pressure lines(that part wasn't the biggest problem...) but when all was said and done they ended up sitting close enough too the pavement you start to wonder if they ran over a piece of cardboard in their driveway, if they would rip all the oil lines out of the car....(yes a little sarcasm but still pretty accurate)
