Your local parts store should have the drums, fortunately it's one of the parts that are relatively available.
IIRC the big block 6s had gear drives from the factory, which aren't interchangeable with the small sixes.
Been done before, you can use the search function to find the into. Oddly enough in Brazil you could get 4cyl maverick from the factory.
