I use a billet cap I purchased off ebay for my 70 it was for newer Maverick so i re clocked the inner ( just re drilled) works great . stock cap...

I also was informed by track officials dumping fuel out cap. Use a billet one with good gasket on track days now.
As stated above tig does take more practice than mig. With tig it is important everything is very clean to get a nice weld .
