    I might add that my 71 Comet GT was Black with silver stripe. Maybe that was why it was gloss black under the hood. Don't know the answer.

    Auto transmission slipping (or something!)

    Look on the passenger side of the transmission. Above the transmission pan. It will have a vacuum hose on it. If it's a 72 it will not screw in it...

    Side pipes were not a GT option but Bear Cats had side pipes. Is you car a Bear Cat. Look on here under the search option for Bear Cats.

    I bought a new 71 GT it didn't have chrome drip rail moldings. I never saw a true GT in 1971 or 1972 with the drip rail moldings or rocker molding...
