Just got home with the "New Windshield". Give you the entire story. Called around, foud the cheapest price at a place here called Glass Masters...not sure if they are a franchise or not. Anyway, had it scheduled to be installed yesterday, Monday...took her in, they pulled her back in the garage and then told me that due to the age of the car and the condition (didn't look bad to me) of the windshield gasket, the gasket would need to be replaced. So, now we're on a hunt for a windshield gasket for the 77 Maverick. Found the gasket but it wouldn't be delivered until Tuesday. Tuesday morning, 8:00 AM I bring her back. Now, I was originally quoted $199.00 for the windshield, but then came the gasket at $99.00....then when I got the bill it was over $400.00....I questioned the bill, nice lady seen that they charged me over $200.00 for the windshield, so she brought that down to $199.00, but apparently that doesn't include labor...anyway I finally paid, windshield, installation, new gasket, plus tax: $382.00...it looks great but I wasn't prepared to pay close to $400.00 for a windshield. The other dealers wouldn't guarantee the chrome molding...so that's why I went with Glass Masters.
