Good to hear things are coming together for you, Don. I have a question. Did you ever consider using BLUE accent lighting to better match the cars color combo instead of the green?
I'm some disappointed!! http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/it...=Power+Steering+Pumps+&+Rebuild&CatKey=Cougar Just trying to look out for you! I would hate for you to lose points at a show for an improperly-placed grille emblem! In all seriousness Don, it's great to see that you got your car back together in such a short time and the fact that it turned out so well is awesome!! You should be proud of all the work you've done!
I do have blue accent lighting. 4 tubes under the car, 2 inside beside the front sats and also in the 6×9s in the rear deck. Love my blue!
Thanks for the link Paul. Since you did the leg work, I might have to buy a can. I have since moved my grille emblem to the correct locatilon.
hmmm.. good to hear. It must just be my aged memory showing up again. I could have sworn I read about "green lights" in another thread.
At the muffler shop getting the exhaust patched. Looks like the rear seal might be leaking.....Dangit!! I was worried about that. I can tell you I am not fixing it. If it leaks too much, I will put it in the shop. Ive had enough of turning wrenches this year.
Whoop whoop....exhaust fixed and alignment done. Caster is maxed out at .09, specs call for 1.4, close enough. Two more things checked off the punch list. I should have named this thread Winter project 13/14, sorry.
Piece of cake for a competent shop. Your car shows the many hours that have been invested and I'm guessing that you've earned a well deserved break by now.
Lol, it's nothing special, just a plain ole 2" exhaust. It actually looked better before. I will, however, post pics of thd stance after I drop the rear this weekend.
Thank you....... I'm doubting the rear seal leak now. When I put oil in the engine for the first time, it leaked out of the back of the valve cover and down the back of the block. My hope is that is what we saw the other day. Just a little bit of that oil left over from the leak. Currently it is not leaving any puddles in the garage except for a quarter size spot under the lower radiator hose. Remember, I have a piece of old hose filling in the difference in the new hoses. I keep tightening and it keeps oozing. I will have a new radiator before long.
Another busy day in the garage. I installed a new inline fuse for the new amp. I lowered the idle a little, might go a little lower. I ground down and smoothed out the bottom of my Ford air breather nut. It was tearing up the paint. Also noticed a small scratch on the edge of the breather right beside a place I had just touched up. The brace from the hood was barely touching it. I gave it a few smacks with a hammer, lol. Not sure if I mentioned this earlier but I was loosing a tiny bit of oil out of the dip stick tube. There was nothing left of whatever material it used to have in there. I improvised and took a vacuum hose plug, snipped the tip to allow the dip stick to go thru and slid in on the tube. Now the dip stick seals nice and snug. After the alignment my steering was cocked to the right a little. The guy said if he tried to fix it that it might be cocked the other way. I think he was just being lazy, but I told him I would just pull the steering wheel and fix it that way. So I did that today also. The big job was dropping the rear end an inch. Actually wasn't that big a deal but the biggest thing I did today. I used the aluminum Auto Zone kit. I know many of you don't like it, but I'm just running a little 250, I don't race, I don't beat on my car. I just cruise.........I'm sure it will be fine. It's hard to see in the pic, but u bolts were a tiny bit wider than my stock ones. The diameter was larger too, which isn't a bad thing at all. Had to drill the holes out to 1/2" Here is one side completed after cutting off the bolts. My new stance. Dropped the front 2 1/2" - 3", dropped the rear 1"...very happy with the result. Car rides just as good as before. Better actually, replacing the upper control arm shafts made a big difference and no more squeak! So I guess that's it. I have a couple things to do with my neon, but I'm pretty much done and ready to go to a cruise in next Saturday night! Then it's off to Detroit for a Mini Meet! Thanks for all the positive compliments and advice during this 4 and half month project.
