What gear ratio do you think would work best for a c4 then. I was planning on putting 3.55 in mine in the near future. I have a 2800 stall converter runnin behind my 351w.

3.27 or 3.55. The added torque of the 351 will take care of the lesser ratio in regards to the 3.27's.

Less than 3.55 with the stall converter though might not generate enough rpm for the longevity of the converter/tranny.

The gears I am looking at are 25 spline pinion. Will that work? I thought they had to be 28.

with the 2800 stall speed youll want 3.55s to keep the motor above the stall speed and not over heat the trans. a gear set spline is refering to the pinion spline that the yoke goes on. 28 spline is the axle spline.

Run the numbers through the calculators and figure out what you want to cruise at.

I hve 3.80 and 27" tires (255/60r15). I don't mind driving the freeway at 60 mph to keep the rpms under 3000.

I do like the quick response that I get with the 3.80, and contemplating getting a 4.11 chunk to swap out.

the car will accelerat faster. if you chassie dyno it before and after you should actully see a power decrease. it has to do with the rpm range on the chassie dyno. what you will notice is its easyer to peal out, the car will be more "jumpy" when you accelerate.

it depends on how much and what kind "street" driving your doing.I'll be moving the 8.8 with 4.11's from my mustang with a c4. it was a kick in the pants with the t5,but like the plate frame says "traction is optional"

Mine has 4:11's/c4 and its an absolute riot in town. Its stupid fast through first and second gear. Bit much at 60 MPH though. This engine really likes to run around 3 grand and doesnt slob on fuel. Depends on your set up.

My relavent experience is that I had a 100% stock 2 barrel '82 302 in a capri RS with a 4 speed. I had a 3.73 gear put in the 8.8 inch rear and I loved it. It was my daily driver for a few years @ 120 miles round trip. Caveats compared to your setup is the 4 speed will run a few hundred RPM lower at cruise speed compared to the C4. If you don't do a lot of highway driving or mind cruising the highways at 55-60, and fuel mileage is not a concern, I'd go with the 3.80 which will give you more performance under accelation. Your setup also has a little higher power RPM range then mine had.
If you are playing at the track ... 3.80 without question.:thumbs2:
