Like stated above, the 300 is a much taller engine. A friend of mine bought a 65 Mustang fastback a few years ago which someone had installed the 300 truck motor in. I was checking it out with him. The engine didn't have a breather on it. It only took a minute to figure out why. I looked at the hood and there was an imprint of the top of the carb on it. No room for a breather. I was amazed that it would even run.
the motor is a 92, i was just told in 90 they block size went up. is this true? the headers are hitting on the shock tower. i put hookers on it and still hitting. somebody from this site told me to put one side in firts with headers and crank up the other side and slip them in but no go there.
The block size did not change on the 302 windsor, ever. You have a header fitment problem, not an engine fitment one. Get the right headers and your problems will go away.
The 300 six will fit but it's not a "user friendly" swap. There were tons of these swaps done in the early 1970's for the Modified Production class of H/MP. Dad ran a 1965 Falcon Sprint with the 300 swap against plenty of these Mavericks. It's not an easy deal but it will fit. I do not recommend doing it for a street car of any kind.
