...what Ivy isn't telling you (or the track tech) is that he's also
running 100psi of helium in his tires and even more in his BVD's! ;)

I'm amazed everytime I see that car! Awsome numbers from
    an awsome car.

    Continued success, Ivy.

How much weight do you think you netted by going to an aluminum dash?

/me ponders the thought of doing the same

driveability vs. streetability or however you spell it!

I guess it's all in what you want.. i'll admit it's great to blaze down a 1/4 mile track....but sadly around here all we have is the short 1/8 mile track(still fun but less impressive)....

the point i'm saying is i live 20 minutes away from the city one way and in the opposite side 40 minutes from the nearest track and i have no truck or trailer to pull it there.....i dont know about you but driving 30 minutes to the city to play at street lights or drag race at the strip is maddening with a radical cam, 4:80 gears and a c-4! so i built a car i think is a good all around car.....great for the long haul and still pretty impressive in the time of need!

    heres what i got....
347 coast high performance stroker kit.
    balanced and blueprinted.
edelbrock performer cam and performer rpm intake.
edelbrock victor jr. heads ( with some mods)
    edelbrock aluminum water pump.
underdrive pulleys and converted to electric fan instead of flex.
    t-56 6 speed from a svt cobra w/ bulletproof gears and a steep 2.76 1st gear!
3.89 gears with perogie posi unit
    17" aluminum amercian racing rims.
since most of my time is driving to the city or "mainstrip" i find myself crusing 70mph at 2450 rpms. in 6th gear. i'm more into open speed rather than street light to street light..but it is extremely fun to fry the occasional camaro who has the "balls".
it's been 140mph tops so far gets way to "light" in front and tends to change lanes alot. but when a ricer is trying to downshift and pass me i can leave them running so to speak....and with the setup i have it still pushes out great speed off the line. i built her for crusing to a carshow occasionally and whooping but only on weekends......build what you want every body has there points!!!! take care, dan.

    street racing....

I have a guy at work that has been having all kinds of trouble with his son street racing in a Honda. The last time he got caught by the police, they clocked him doing 90+ mph in a 45 zone. It cost my friend around $800 to get his son off with just "community service". I had been trying to talk him into taking his son to the track, I told him it was a completely different "animal" than street racing was. well, after the last encounter with the law, he finally took his son down to the track. Well, his son made his first ever "legal" race down the 1/8th mile and when he got back to the pits it took about 10 minutes for his right leg to stop shaking :D Needless, to say, the youngster is HOOKED! :) He said he had never been that nervous before! Now the son and his friends go to T/T every Wednesday and Friday. and thats the only time they race!
If we could get more kids to the track and get the TRACKS to welcome these kids it might, just might, calm this street racing craze down a little.
Now I know that we are never going to quit street racing. But the more we get to the track and off the streets, the safer our friends ands family will be.
Sorry for the "spill" but street racing is something that is a very serious issue to me. I have lost a couple friends to street racing and I try everytime I get the chance to get kids off the street and to the track.
    Thanks for listening.

    .

72MAV, a couple questions for you.

Where'd you get your tranny and was it new or used? Did you get a special gear set or was it already "bulletproof" to start out?

Also, how many horsepower do you pump out with your setup. Sounds like a pretty good setup. How does the car idle?
