Bbf A 460 weighs about 720# a 289/302 weighs about 465#. Now if you use alum heads and manifold a 460 looses about 100# right there. C-6 is about 35# more, and a 9" is about 40". So a fiberglass hood and seats can make a big difference. Radiator, water pump, of alum, anything to get her weight down. Rims, you can loose 10# each also. Steel rims are heavy as is some speciality ones.
. Glad you didnt sell it I really wanted to see that car finished! Im getting ready to mini tub mine as well. I have a couple things to make today then its on to the mini tubs. IM going to be using a late model style wheel so I wont need to narrow the rear. Cant wait to see more pics.
i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what would be a good system for my rear suspension set up the car will see mainly street use, and i was over a protouring.com`s web site and the opinion over there is a ladder bar set up wont work on the street but i seen a dream car garage episode and they did a nova with ladder bars and air bags then took it to a road course and beat the living dailights out of it so i am up in the air right now as to a rear set up any sugestions will help. Thanks Barry
Here's a link I remeber from a post way back. It's another motivated Comet owner w/ a 460 in his 77 Comet. You may have seen it already but here it is none the less... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/247717
As for the rear setup i was over at Art Morrisons websight and he has a universal triangulated 4 link set up for $495.00 i think i am leaning this way with coil overs......
I installed a 7 inch booster and master oh and its chrome just a little bling bling,no i got it cheep off ebay otherwise it would not be chromed, i now have room to remove the valve cover..next i will start on the headers for this side
Yes they were custom made to my specs 17 x 11 with a 4 1/4 inch off set i will be running 315 x 35x 17 on the back here is a pic of the combo...
I just removed the rear end to mock up for narrowing and mini tubbing as you can see buy the last pic with the leaf springs removed there is plenty of room for the mini tub without touching the frame..
Thanks! Thats good to know. Im doing the same but wasnt quite sure that large a tire would fit, but I know it will now.
