Well i am looking for opinions i was thinking of moving up to modern technology and pulling the 460 and C6 in favour of either a twin turbo fuel injected small block and 5 speed set up or a 4.6 blown mustang cobra set up whats your 2 cents on this................Barry
I like a big block and C6 but from the looks of the way your building the car it's looking more Pro-touring than drag. I would go with TT small block running a 5speed or the DOHC 4.6 and 6 speed. The Mod motors are more expensive to hop up but they look like a big block in the engine compartment. But I love the sound and feel when a turbo starts spooling! You can have the rumble of a built small block and the woooooo tssshhhhh of twin turbos, I say go twin turbo, small block, efi, and manual! Then I can live vicariously through you!
I say don't do a small block. We all have that. Keep the 460 or the 03 Cobra motor with the 6 speed. I vote for the Cobra motor!
the only substitute for cubic inches is more cubic inches. Anything you can add on to a small block you can add to a big block and it will result in more power on the big block than it does on the small block. Be really radical and put twin turbos and an after cooler on the big block.
suspension Art Morrison is good people. I've been to their shop and it's impressive. They care about the customer and have good stuff.
keep the 460 man, not everyone has a big block on a "compact car". And add some centrifugal superchargers, like the Koeniscegg (sp?). Or go nutz and twincharge it, you know, a roots supercharger and a turbo, VW has done it on some cars, I think. Keep the good work!
Hurry up and wait a minute. I agree with signal20. 4.6 would be most exotic. I love old school straight line muscle, big blocks & 4 speeds with loose front ends that lift right up. I like the 460 for that purpose. That would be fun to drive on the street. Walk softly and carry a large stick. I guess it really depends on what you are going to do with it. A twin turbo small block would be quite a performer but not exotic enough. I was actually thinking about the 2003 dohc 4.6 myself. In fact, the only thing stopping me is that freaking huge amount of green paper that is not in my wallet! The 4.6 looks as big as the 460. My friend has a 2003 svt cobra with a few mods, and it pushes 480rwhp and sounds sick. One ride in that made me a modular 4.6 believer! Here are some pix I lifted from "sn8kbite" over at www.modularfords.com. Pretty awesome!! Imagine that in your Maverick. But if money were no object, you would probably have a tank engine in there.
Hey, where in Long Island are you guy's? I'm living in Florida now, but I grew up in Patchogue, and went to Patchogue-Medford H.S. Class of '82
I say built 460 and a single turbo! Keep up the good work Barry - you're giving me inspiration to finish up my Comet!
Thanks guys i am leaning towards the 460 as i already have it in there and some type of hidden boost adder but it will be a carburetted version...Man that 4.6 mod motor sure looks pretty though..where you located fishoutofwater.........Signal20 i am in East Patchogue.....Barry
Yes, the 4.6 looks sick. There is a guy on Modularfords.com putting one in a 67 mustang. His motto is " If you want to go fast and do it cheap, you better take 'modular' out of your vocabulary" or something to that effect. I am in Glen Head. I hope we can get together when you get that monster on the road. Captree or Bald Hill? ~Brian
