71 Comet GT story

never seen one in that color combo pretty rare...Looked low mileage to me as well...original hood blackout was still in great shape...i hope that car wasnt crushed

 

Sorry about the letdown there ... nice effort to save it.

Went through something similar here ... kept track of a 23K mile 71 Mav for 3 years ... one day the car was gone, the house repainted ... the owner was gone too ... she was crowding 90 years old and still drove the Mav infrequently.

It wouldn't hurt to put a Wanted ad on your local Craigslist ... just say '70s Mercury Comet and/or parts. I would not go into a lot of other detail ... you might luck out if whoever picked it up has any clue about it.

 

This story reminded me about a small bumper Comet GT I used to see sitting by a business here. I went by yesterday and it is still there but it now has a Maverick hood and grill. They put the GT scoop on the Maverick hood. It looks pretty nice but the business looks vacant...but the car looks like it is still drivable?? I'll try to grab a pic of it tomorrow on my lunch break.
