It varies from yard to yard and state to state. Several of my cars I have parted out came to me because they were abandoned.

It'll be auctioned off at their lot.. last mav I got at an auction was $400 and I drove it home! doubt that'll happen again but would be cool if it did!

When these get auctioned off, does it gain a legit title or is it sold for parts only? It would be a shame to part that car out!

The whole process usually takes 4-6 weeks before a abandoned vehicle can be sold/auctioned... In VA there has to be a reg letter sent to the prev owner stating that the towing co will be disposing of the vehicle, if nothing is heard in 15 days the DMV will start process to issue a title to the towing co, garage, property owner, etc... In Va if someones leaves his vehicle on your property and refuses to move it, you can apply for a abandoned title, process can be started in as little as 48 hours...

My dad went and checked it out, bumpers and valences have been roughed up, benchseat plain jane interior, 6cyl auto on column....Said its overall a solid car. Auction in a couple weeks, planning to part it out if I get it
