    This is what I do for a living,ratio pretty much hit the nail on the head,why spend all that money on an 8"?

    I measured my alumin8 rearend housing on a batrroom scale tonight.

    You are right I was off about 25 lbs. I am 50 lbs lighter than a dressed 9 inch.
    8 inches are strong. I know of a few guys with 4 speeds and big blocks. They hold up just fine. They have after market axles, and arp bolts. What gives out is the carrier bearing bolts. They shear off. ARP stuff cures that.
