I know Mopar stuff is ridiculously expensive. Feel sorry for those guys :). Instead of a bunch of car-loving gear heads, only millionaires acn afford to restore an old challenger or charger hehe.

I bought my mav for $250. I see some of the chrome I need going for hundreds of dollars. It just doesn't see right to me. But that's likely due to the fact that I'm a cheap ass.

    Wes, what's your email address?

The last time I redid my interior I used carpet from JC Whitney. Didn't fit right. This time I used Auto Custom Carpet from Autokrafters and the fit is perfect. Better padding and finished edges, too.

Anyone else have any ideas for getting chrome in decent shape?

There are places that advertise in Hemmings that can polish and re-anodize chrome/stainless trim. I sent every piece of mine to a place in Hobart Indiana. Cost about $500 to get it all done: Front and rear windshield pieces, drip rail edge pieces, and hood molding. Looks better than NOS.

I think most of the trim on a maverick is aluminum. Aluminum is really tough to deal with because it so soft. And many dents and such in hood chrome, etc are impossible to pop out due to the shape of the part. Like with the hood chrome, I don't see any possible way to pull dents out of it.

Nothing is impossible ..... Well almost nothing anyway ... Some times you just have to throw in the towel and say "I need a new one " But with paitence and a steady hand alot can be accomplished...

Because aluminum is soft it can be worked easily, It is probably one of the easiest metals to restore ... With access to a tig rig even welding or brazing is far from out of the question ... Polishing aluminum is a breeze .... Dropping a aluminum bead into a dent then shaping is as easy as shaping bondo (Almost) ....

Keep in mind the phrase "Color Sanding" read up about it and then use the same technics in restoring whatever it is you have to restore ... Be it plastic or aluminum or whatever ... Unless its beyond repair its always worth a shot ...
