I've read that with the bleeder on the bottom, and the internal design of the caliper, they can drag when installed like that.
How close are the Explorer calipers? Would they bolt up?

We're on the same page then, cool, thanks!(y)

I've not heard about the dragging problem, but that would be interesting to know for sure. Wouldn't be hard to test, once operating, use an infrared gun to take a temp of the rotors in the rear after a few stops and then a coast down. As for the Explorer calipers, that would be something to consider, but pads are different and may or may not line up with the anchors on the CV backing plates. (and there are 2 different piston sizes on Explorers as well)

nope, if they had I would have used them...Steve, said the rotors and calipers were the same, not even close...that was the #1 reason I was going to do this mod., I have new calipers, pads and rotors on my Explorer setup...
I was just going to swap out the...mounting brackets and see what the difference between the two setups were....:bouncy:
I will do a pros/cons list when done. this setup will go on vacation with us this July...then I will know if I like them better than my Explorer setup...:yup:

did a little riding today to check out the new rear disc brakes...no performance diff.

    pros...
I like the smaller center hole in the brake bracket.

    cons...
can't clock the caliper so bottom mounting bolt won,t hit the leaf springs....

on my install I mounted the pass caliper to the rear of the axle tube like the driver side.. by doing this i can use 95% of the...stock mav E-brake system....but had to remove caliper (2 bolts) to blead braks.

    questions...

Crown Vic parking brake cables connected to Mav intermediate cable? I'd like to see your cable arrangement.:yup:

when you say bottom mounting bolt hits the leaf spring, I assume you still can back the bolt out enough to unseat the caliper or does it rub during operation?

the Crown Vic cable is ran inside the Maverick outer cable shield behind the tire, in the wheelwell...

yes...the bolt is even with the spring (not touching) just so you can't get a 7mm wrench in the head of the mounting bolt.
