The 302 had a high volume pump that came with the engine kit from Summit Racing (front sump). The windsor also has a high volume pump, I belive. I thought that about the 302 too, but since the top end is shaking loose, this 351 is only al little more that the cost to redo a lot of what was done to my 302 allready, looks like it will need another cam, a head, pushrods, some rockers... plus the pistons are dish I belive (the compressions is only about 135 per cylinder. I made the mistake a few years ago saying that I thought I was going to put a supercharger on it...some day and I think given that info they gave me lower compression pistons. This Windsor is about 10:1 and may be a little jumpier on the start.
mad mav The 351 will drop right in. I put one in my 72 in place of the 302. The valve covers may be tight without modifying the shock towers.
You said it drops in. Is that with or without headers? I have a set of Hedman Headers on the 302 now. Yep. that's the main thing people recognize the Johnstown area for. I was only around for the 1977 flood. How long ago did you live in St. Michael? there used to be a red Maverick I could see from the highway down and to the left right before the St. Michael exit off of 219.
i left st. michael in 1970 when i graduated from high school have seen a lot of changes over the years up there. I am 51 now and still young at heart, racing and stuff like that. I have a 68 cougar that i restored from ground up. A lot of my family that lived up there are no longer with us, so i dont get up there too often any more. I have 2 sisters in law and a few nephews in the area, and a niece that lives in windber across 56 from the flea market on one of those streets. her husband is a big ford fanatic too.
K&R Racing, I live 5 miles from St.Michael and 17 miles from madmav. I bet we whent to the same school. (Forest Hills)
K&R, They didn't happen to have a green Comet did they? there was on that was visible across from the Windber stadium (and at the time Speedway). about 14-15 years ago when I was in highschool. (darn I'm getting old!).
Randy, 1973 but I had 2 close friends from your class, and St.Michael was one of my stomping grounds.
