    Makes it a high-high rise!

All I have heard an seen goes with Shadowmaster. I will be using a spacer this year (only super vic before) and will also post differences. Gotta get car done first.

indeed...but this spacer is not an extension of the intake riser....it's more of an extension of the carb bores....supposedly giving it an advantage over an open plenum spacer or high rise intake....the way the bores are tapered gives it the advantage over a 4 hole spacer....again, supposedly...I'm in agreement with Todd and Dave...I think the higher the performance of the motor the more benefit this will offer...so if I get no performance gain I guess my motor is a SKANK:huh: :D

Precisely. This is what gives a stronger signal to the carb boosters (better signal). Also, the spacer tapers out to an open design thereby creating more plenum volume (more mph).

i am looking at the ...spiral bore...spacer. it has the 4 holes but not tapered. any ideas on this type?
i need 1" hight on my carb. so my breather will clear my dist. cap. could go with a smaller breather but the talk of the performance gain of this spacer is interesting. :yup:

...damn, that means i will have to go to Summit again this week...:p :bananaman

    ...Rick, is it sat. yet?...

Anyone want to chime in here? I'm running a super victor intake which essntially has a built-in 2" open plenum hence the reason for the 4 hole spacer.
Franks situation is probably different(I'm thinking rpm air gap or performer intake).
Will he benefit more from an open spacer or 4 hole?

Well, I have to look. Kieth Craft sold me the brodix heads, he said to go with spacer. I'm thinking it's the spiral 4 hole. I have a 1 in open spacer and some other of all kinds! (think I said a whole lot of nothing there) If you get the spiral 4 hole an want to borrow a open one, I will lend it to you for testing. Let me know if interested. I will be trying a couple different ways this year an will keep track of findings to post.

Came in today...here's a pic...outside edges of the bore are smooth....inside edges are grooved...carb side is just plain 4 bore holes at the top...by the time it gets to the bottom it has become an open spacer....I'll put it on tommorrow and see how it does Sat.

Looks nice, I thought it would have been made from a non heat conductive material.

They can be had in phenolic if thats what you want.:)
"usually" I don't worry too much about heat, water and oil temps are pretty low after a pass, 170 water and 160 oil...of course I flatline them after each pass by running the fan and water pump for about 10 minutes.;)

I think it was Joe Sherman who dyno tested one. It made more power when he turned it upside down!

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i think everyone figured this out already but that that more then a spacer ;)

i had one of those on my car a long time ago. at the time back in the late 80's they were only inserts... i swapped one in an extra spacer i had and swapped them at the track... it was worth a constant 1mph but that’s it and no time difference at least a consitant one ;)

good luck let us know the car turns!

I remember those days. Now it takes FOREVER just to even get the temp up to 160. I usually make a full pass...starting line water temp 130 and it's usually 140 when I get to the pit & turn the water pump on.

I did buy a primer plus unit from Monroe which is super slick. Idles/starts on gas but turn it off & turn the alky on and do the burnout/run...then pull the shut off lever & turn the primer back on & drive back on gas. Sure saves fuel. Even better....I can now get it up to 180° water temp in about 45 seconds on 93 octane just idling at 1800 compared to alky taking 3-3 1/2 gallons and taking 5 minutes or longer to get it up to 140.

Rick, what do you see for trans temps? I finally bought a trans gauge & I'm curious as to what is considered normal.

Just got back from the track and I can't say anything one way or the other...I honestly think it would have picked up half a tenth or so if the track hadn't had been so loose...out side of 60ft. I had to fight it to stay in the groove...the worst I've ever seen it.
The one good thing...check out the time slips...the car didn't waiver more than 4 one thousandths even with the track the way it was :burnout:
