The ones in the F-250's must be of a different breed. The one in our '95 F-250 went well over 150,000 miles before it needed rebuilding. It is behind a 7.5L and it will pull a 16,000 lb trailer very well.

    Maybe... not sure.

Your motor has quite a bit more power than the stocker 302 thats in ours tho, and ours is 4x4 w/ 31s on it. Underpowered usually means to transmission trouble eventually also.

That's true, but when a transmission goes at at 40k miles, and again before 100k miles and I've seen it several times... I call them junk. They are weaker than AODs in many peoples views, and apparently they won't fit in a maverick anyways so no need of discussing them really.

Also, like I said... it depends on the application. a 2 wheel drive truck with maybe a stronger motor will last longer than a stock 302 4x4 that sees lots of slow driving in the deer woods up and down hills. The AOD in another guys older truck lasted a lot longer than my gramps transmission and it went thru the same abuse.

P.S... I wasn't trying to be scarcastic. It's just good for you that you haven't had one go out. I see how my post could be taken the wrong way.
