While I much prefer a automatic over a manual for my daily driver, I'd rather have a manual in my Maverick. I will only be driving it on the weekends, and I think I would have more fun driving around the back roads if I had a stick shift.

Nothing replaces the feeling of manually banging through the gears on a back country road. Automatic just takes so much of the fun out of it for me. Mine is automatic as it sits, but theres a T-5 in the garage, just waiting to go in.

Tossed the C-4 out for a T-5. Best mod I ever did to the Grabber :)

When I was a kid standing on the curb watching the new Comet Cyclones, Mustangs, Camaros, etc. go by (early '60s), all of the "serious" car guys were banging through the gears themselves.
One man's opinion - You steer an automatic; you drive a stick.
Aside from this "emotionally driven" preference, standards transfer more power to the road, break less often, cost less to repair when they do, deliver better mileage, and are more versatile in "adverse" conditions (snow, rain, mud)

I've been driving a manual since 1991 with only a couple of automatics mixed in. For fuel economy and driving pleasure, I have to have a manual. Besides, every time I come to a stop in my wife's Expedition, I try to disengage the clutch... she laughs every time! :mischeif:

I like them both. For daily driving I prefer the auto just because around here it can be a hassle. On the other hand I like to row through the gears too - especially on a long road trip on a two lane highway or a "Sunday drive" on a twisting dirt road.
I can shift my C4 just like a manual down and up so it is hard to tell whether it is a manual or auto - More control isn;t an issue - just the fun of which ever transmission is there.

I will be putting a Automatic in Mine. Not that I don't like Stick cars, I do. Infact I drag race a 4 speed car, and thats the problem. Put me in a street car with 3 pedals and I turn into a lunatic.

Manual all the way. When I went looking for a new truck, that was one thing I really wanted above all else and it was hard to find. They sure are hard to find in new cars anymore.

I'll be pulling the C-4 in exchange for a top loader four speed soon too. My daily driver F150 is an automatic but would prefer it to a 5 speed transmission from a Mustang.

Given a choice I would like a 4 speed in the Mav with a hydraulic clutch. That would be the end of my 8" though so the manual swap goes right into a 9" swap as well. Too much time, work and money for me to invest in. The car drives great as is on the street with the C4 and 4:11 8". I think if I was going to go with the 4 speed and 9" it would get a different engine and direction of build all together. More of a handling type car/high RPM that could actually turn a corner. Different suspension, wheels, tires Oh boy would it get expensive.

I'd better just keep my boring C4.

Manual for the drags, and playing around (roasting the tires)

Auto for instant shift on time every time, and daily driving.

To this day, i still cant power brake to get the tires to squeel
