got the motor/tranny pulled tonight. Thats as far as I got, I was too busy with grilling out and playing baseball with the boys to get any further :D

I will drop the pan in the morning and go from there.
    Doc Hudson is the best!
I do not know how many people have ever used a "load leveler" before...but man that sure makes the job EASY! That and (purist don't shoot me) I cut the upper radiator support off....it was so damaged and my car is hacked-up anyway.
That combined with the leveler, motor and tranny came out with the tires on the ground....mucho easy
Doc has his upper support made to be removed and thats what I will do with mine.

Don's trying to the old "mis-direction" :D I think he is coming to KY to spank some bootie :evilsmile

Rick, I will post the flow numbers before he works on them and after.
Even still you have nothing to worry about....as long as I have them little headers on the car, its not going to get much better than it is now. :yup:
*almost forgot....sending the converter out to be rebuilt, I noticed it was starting to get real loose at the Round-up.....going to a 5,500 stahl....that might help a little.
I will keep you guys in the loop.

well with HUGE help from Doc, tear down began.
Initial findings is that the bottom end is fine.

    Doc is thinking it either:
    1) jumped time (bent a pushrod) not sure about all of the valves yet. Pulled 2 of them tonight and they looked OK.
    2) Valve springs got weak. Check 2 of them tonight and they both tested at 240+.

*All of the exhaust valves were hitting the pistons and 6 of the intake valves.

All I know is that guy has got to be verging on GENIUS! Now I know I am not the
SHARPEST CANDLE IN THE TREE :hmmm: but he has got more knowledge in is left index finger than I will ever have. All of these gauges and dials and stuff. as if that was not confusing enough, then he takes me to the flow bench and computer thingie and really blows my mind :D then the titanium valves and that little gram scale....my valve weigh 50+ grams more than his :yup:
Seriously, he is very sharp! and if there is anything that isn't untapped in my motor, he will find it!
Should be a great, fun learning experience.
