 Do i need one? or do i not need one? sounds like i do or don't need one! I have a v-8 without one but should have one unless i think i don't need one! But i've never see one so do they exist! so i have come to a conclusion no wait i'm still not sure. (ANYONE GOT ONE FOR SALE)
IT is part of the frame stiffness determined necessary for the V8s by Ford. If the engineers didn't think it was needed they would not have made it - if the been counters didn't think it was necessary Ford would never have spent the money to build it or install it. Buy one - steal one - put it on.
Last spring I finally installed a belly bar in my 70, 36 years after I did the V8 conversion. Never caused a problem running without and I haven't noticed a difference since adding it. Your results may vary... Edit: You can buy the special bolts from most Mustang supply houses, Mustangs use the same bolts.
would having a v8 with no belly bar installed cause the car to shake a bit..I just got an 84 stang motor installed converted to mav setup and it kind of vibrated even the backside of the seats pulstate...feels like a back massage but dont think thats right lol
why are the bolts special? i just grabbed some from our bolt bin at work that worked perfectly fine on mine
Yep, can't see the underside of the bolt heads in the picture but these are the correct bolts http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=CB6570+01
supposivly the one i ordered from a board member here was the 50oz as i had a 28oz? maverick one already but didnt use it in the install due to the oz imbalance besides the vibration, would this cause any problems if infact this is the issue at hand?
If your '84 block has the original crank you need a 50 oz imbalance flex plate and damper. The counterweight on your 50 oz plate should be almost twice as large as the one on the 28 oz plate. Your main bearings won't appreciate the vibration.
