The picture shows a treated bumper bracket beside its untreated mate. Of course, the pits are still there. This is the best rust removal method I've used. Its cheap, non-toxic, and effective. And, maybe the best part is I feel like I'm working when the rust bucket is going and I'm enjoying a brewski on the deck. :beerchug:

:D It work really well. The only thing is you have to paint the part right after you cleaned it or it will rust faster than before. This method remove everything! (rust, paint etc).

Now that we've totally hijaced this thread ... Yes, stuff will IMMEDIATELY start to rust. I put OSPHO on it as soon as it comes out of the bath. That seems to hold it till its painted.

Its important to have a large enough vat to submerse the entire piece. Do it half at at time and the first half will rust while the second half is cooking.

I've sandblasted them before and they will come out perfect after you paint them

Thanks for sharing this info. Wish I had known about this before I spent hours sandblasting some of my smaller parts. I still have other stuff to clean and will try this.

Where do you buy your 2+2 at ? I haven't seen that stuff for years. If you really want to get rid of the oil and grease and grim instead of using the 2+2 Gum cutter use the 2+2 Carb cleaner it cuts grease like a hot knofe through butter...
