I have the aussie heads myself. They seem to me like the best way to go other than maybe the new 3V aluminum heads an Australian co. just came out with.
Boss 302 or 351C swap The frame is 2" narrower than 67 to 70 Mustangs, NO Boss 302 Mustang header or 351C header will work. JR offered this header SEVERAL years ago as did Hooker for the Boss 302, JR for both. 302W mounts and brackets work with both engines. Working on a bolt is 385 kit now *429/460 wedge. Reply if you have any questions. LC
Boss 302 Maverick/Comet Sorry guys for late post. These are the FACTS. NO Mustang header will fit the Maverick chassis with a Boss 302. The only companys that made headers were JR/Beeline Engineering, Kustom headers, Dougs/Doug Thorley, Cyclone, and Hooker. Anything you read of that era is miss leading at best. I raced in B/SM NHRA and there were three cars that run head and shoulders above the rest. The SS&DI car owned by Arlen Fadley, Jim Stevens, and Ron Anderson. The SS&DI car was bought in 1979 by Mike Edwards and Bill Long of Tulsa, OK. They Modified Eliminator in 84 or 85 withthe car. Mike is now running PRO STOCK just won at Bristol the last weekend.
Wow... a 7 year old thread, and we are arguing about headers?!? Tubular Automotive makes Boss 302 headers for the 65-66 Mustang. Oh, wait... "No Mustang header will fit a Maverick" The Tubular Boss 302 headers fit a Maverick. I owned a set. Now can we get back to topics newer than 7 years old?
The boss 302 in 69 had different heads then the 70, the 70 was much more streetable. anyone talking about bogging down and poor low end is usually talking about 69 heads. I had a 70 Boss 302 motor in a 68 Shelby and around 6000 RPM the torq and HP really kicked in, it set you back in the seat but was still god at low end.
