I have been told that works on the 170 and 200, but the 250 supposedly
has a higher deck height. I looked at it some more and I actually think that the butterflies maybe hitting the hood. I may have to try a shorter adapter like Randy was talking about.

You can look at the one I have - it's a custom made adapter. It's not "refined", but works good.

    Rando 76,
Can post or email me a pic or two of your set up? I am curious of the difference between yours and others on the market. Are you able to use the factory cleaner?
    Thanks
    Jerry

I'll try to take some pics soon. The previous owner made this adapter. I didn't plan on using it on the car it's on, so I haven't done much with it yet. The air cleaner is some sort of hybrid assembly with a Pinto lid and a trimmed base.
I'll post pics when I can.

Is that an adapter under the carb? If you don't want to cut your hood, how about going back with a stock carb?
    Very nice car BTW.

Thanks for all the compliments. The car is very nice. Alot of
work was done to this car.Whish I could take credit for the work
but I just bought it. If you do a search for Dalmav on the site he
posted pics of some of the work he did. As for going back to stock
that will probably be my short term solution, but I hear so many positive things about running this proggressive 2 barrel I am not ready to give up on it yet.

The Comet GT scoop is the same scoop used on Cougar Eliminators and a few other Fords and Mercs. It actually runs three part numbers and has three pairs of mounting lugs in the front, presumably so that it will clear hood reinforcements on the different cars that it was used on.

There are several repops out there. Some do not have the mounting lugs in the "correct" positions, but if you are starting with an undrilled hood, it shouldn't be a problem other than interference with the ribs underneath.
